Getting Started
Connecting Families to Services
- Start by talking with your primary care provider about getting a referral for ABA services. They will help you to take the next steps to establish care for your child. Our clinics require an ABA referral from a primary care provider to initiate and secure ongoing ABA services.
- Please follow up with our office to confirm that we received the referral from your child's primary care physician. We can be contacted at (406) 651-5700 or by email at info@diversifiedautismclinicalservices.com with any questions or to discuss next steps. If immediate services are not available, you can ask to be placed on our waiting list.
- Based on the information from the referral, we will complete an insurance-benefits assessment to obtain initial insurance authorization to conduct the formal clinical assessment. We also recommend that you call your insurance company during this time to check benefits.
- Prior to scheduling the clinical assessment, you will be asked to complete intake paperwork so we can learn more about your child’s medical history and basic background information at least 2 days prior to the day of the assessment. Additional documentation regarding any evaluations your child has received will also be requested including the child’s formal diagnostic report documenting their autism spectrum disorder diagnosis, Applied Behavior Analysis Prescription, along with any applicable school records such as an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). These materials will help to familiarize the BCBA with the child prior to meeting them and are typically required by the insurance payer for the service authorization. These forms should be faxed to (406) 894-2004.
- Most clinical assessments take between 90-120 minutes to complete. You and your child will meet with a BCBA provider who is experienced in working with individuals with autism. The provider will learn more about your child and get an understanding of your family’s needs and priorities. During this interview process, we will do our best to answer any questions you may have and determine if you are a good fit for our services.
- The BCBA will develop an individualized plan outlining treatment recommendations that address the needs of the child and priorities of the family. This plan will include a recommendation of ABA hours per week to achieve the proposed treatment goals. The report will be submitted to the insurance company who will authorize ongoing ABA services with our therapy team.
- Once services are initiated, the treatment team consisting of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs/LBAs) will utilize evidence-based methods to assist our clients to build upon their existing individual’s skill area strengths while replacing maladaptive behaviors with functional alternatives to get their needs met.

- Once documentation is received, our office coordinator will contact the patient to schedule a consultation.
